Perry County Heritage Tourism in coordination with Perry County, the City of Perryville and several other organizations have been hard at work in recent months with plans for Perry County’s Bicentennial celebration.

The group is excited to announce a community concert will be held on August 8 at the Seminary Picnic Grounds featuring headliner, Perry County native, Chris Janson.

“We are so excited to be bringing Chris back home,” Perry County Heritage Tourism Director Trish Erzfeld said. “This has been a labor of love many months in the making, and a perfect way for our community to celebrate this incredible milestone of 200 years.”

Tickets for the one-night only show will go on sale online May 14 at 8 am, through Eventbrite, and will remain on sale until 5 pm, August 8. Perry County residents are being given priority for ticket purchase for the first two weeks of ticket sales. Residents purchasing tickets should use the promo code Perry2021 in order to gain access to tickets. All tickets will be general admission. Tickets will be $25 each plus tax and fees. Buyers are limited to four tickets per person.

Erzfeld is proud of the work the Bicentennial committee has done in 2021 to make the concert a possibility, with proceeds going to support local non-profits involved in the planning who were adversely affected by the Covid pandemic last year.

“We are selling 5,000 tickets for this concert, which is the biggest concert this community has ever organized, but it will still be a great way for show-goers to get an up-close experience with Janson.”

Rolling Stone called Janson a “live legacy in the making”. The country star is a platinum-selling recording artist, high-octane entertainer, multi-instrumentalist, and an award-winning singer/songwriter. In the five years since the release of his debut album, the three-time Country Music Association (CMA) nominee has collected prestigious accolades that place him amongst country music greats. He took home the trophy for Academy of Country Music (ACM) ‘Video of the Year’ for his gold-certified, hit song “Drunk Girl,” which also earned the ‘Song of the Year’ title at the 2018 MusicRow Awards and was named one of the “Ten Songs I Wish I’d Written” by Nashville Songwriter Association International (NSAI). His chart-topping, triple-platinum smash “Buy Me A Boat” earned the same NSAI honor, making him one in a handful of the industry’s most elite artists to earn the title multiple times, as well as the iHeartRadio Music Awards ‘Country Song of the Year’.

The Grand Ole Opry member has four No. 1 hits including multi-week chart topper “Done,” “Good Vibes,” “Fix a Drink,” “Buy Me a Boat,” and the award-winning “Drunk Girl.” His current single, “Waitin’ On 5,” can currently be heard on the airwaves. In addition to his own successes, the talented songwriter has lent his pen to industry peers including Tim McGraw “Truck Yeah,” “How I’ll Always Be”, LOCASH “I Love This Life” and the legendary Hank Williams Jr. “God Fearin’ Man,” “Those Days Are Gone”, and many more.
