Chester Lavern White, 91, of Perryville, formerly of Edwardsville, Ill., passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on June 13, 1930, in Murphysboro, Ill., the son of the late Chester and Zylphia (Porter) White. Chester worked as a mechanic in the Metro East area for many years. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Christine (Robinson) White. They were married Oct. 25, 1952, in Perryville.
Chester is also survived by two sons, Randall White and wife Michelle of Potosi, Marty (Debbie) White and wife Debbie of Edwardsville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Heather Wexell and husband Brett, Holly White and Josh, Misty King and husband Dave, Emily White; and three great-grandchildren, Landon Ohnesorge and Elliana and Blitz Frick. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth White.

Chester served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville and was a past member of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge No. 1561.
There will be no visitation, and a graveside service was held Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, with the Rev. Jess Biermann officiating. A celebration of life will be held at the White’s residence in Perryville, at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be given to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, in care of Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville.
