It is back to school month! The Chamber wishes all students and teachers a wonderful school year. As this year begins, the Chamber’s September Coffee & Connections focuses on each of our schools. They will give us an update on what is in store this school year. The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Catalyst Center.
Leadership Perryville for August, Agriculture Day, took us on tours of Davis Farm Supplies, Perryville Pumpkin Farm/Golden Harvest Seeds/Brian Koenig Farms, Perry County Extension and the Voelker Dairy Farm. Agriculture has always been a huge part of Perry County. On a side note, the PC Extension office has a lot of information available to the community. They can help you with agricultural needs, health, cooking, gardening, youth/4-H and much more.

New business in town? You, and all existing businesses, are invited to become Chamber members. We would be happy to host a ribbon cutting for you, just call the office for details. The board of directors and myself welcome the opportunity to have all local businesses as Chamber members. The Perryville Chamber of Commerce began in 1923 with a dedicated Board of Directors and soon we will be celebrating our 100-year anniversary. Our first executive secretary was Viola Blechle who was hired in 1964 and held that position until 1989. She also was instrumental in the development of the Missouri Community Betterment organization. The Chamber office holds a multitude of history in the 58 years of MCB project books.
Stop by the office at #2 W. Ste. Marie St, on the Square, and I would be happy to answer any questions.
Jackie Wengert is the executive director of the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce. She may be reached by phone at 573-547-6062 or by email at jackie@perryvillemo.com.
