Chamber offers volunteer opportunities for students

Happy July to everyone! First, I want to thank Jarrett Baker, an upcoming senior attending Saxony Lutheran High School, for volunteering at the office. Jarrett will be able to include these hours on his application for the Chamber’s scholarship to be awarded in the spring. Are you a junior or senior from Perry County? The Chamber promotes volunteering and would love to have you volunteer at the office or our events. Seniors, please check with your school counselor in the fall to get your application.
The Chamber’s next Business After Hours is Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Perry County Community Task Force, which is located at 21 South Main Street. This organization is an asset to our community and our youth! Stop by from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and meet the staff.
Power Hour is Tuesday, Aug. 10, at noon. Next month, it will be held at the Chamber office and our meal will be provided by a Chamber member. Be sure to register early as there is limited seating. This is a great way, in a small group, to promote you and your business. Check out Facebook or the weekly e-news to register.
Leadership Perryville for July, Tourism Day, was organized by Trish Erzfeld and took us on tours of Lutheran Heritage Center & Museum, Die Kleine Schule, Timber Run Campground, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and the Missouri National Veterans Memorial. Perry County has so many wonderful places to visit and fun things to do. Check out visitperrycounty.com.

The fifth Xquisite Women’s Leadership Conference will take place Thursday and Friday, Sept. 16 and 17. Early Bird registration has been extended to Aug. 2. Sign up today and don’t miss this great conference. Check out the Facebook page for all the details or call the office. Our speakers include: Melanie Mitro & Katy Ursta co-founders of Chic Influencer, Kelly D’Angelo-Firefighter/Paramedic/MMA Fighter, Taylor Kirn-Human Resource Professional and Brenda Hoehn-Energy Life Coach. This is fantastic lineup that you will want to be a part of.
Mayfest T-shirts on sale for only $5 each! Green or gray are available. Need a map, phone book, or information on surrounding areas? Stop in the office and pick them up!
New and existing businesses are invited to become Chamber members if you are not already. The board of directors and myself welcome the opportunity to have all local businesses as Chamber members. The Perryville Chamber of Commerce began in 1923 with a dedicated Board of Directors and soon we will be celebrating our 100-year anniversary. Stop by the office at 2 W. Ste. Marie St, on the square, and I would be happy to answer any questions.
