Calleigh J. Cairns

Posted

Calleigh Jean Cairns, 4, left the confines of this earthly world on Aug. 19, 2021, at her home in Altenburg, surrounded by those who loved her most. She was born June 10, 2017 in Perryville. Although she spent half her short life battling brain cancer, Calleigh was a wonderfully loving, smart, active ray of sunshine who touched the hearts and souls of thousands of people around the world. She provided hope and purpose to many during an otherwise hopeless time.
Those left to carry on her legacy are her parents, Nathan and Chris (Wampler) Cairns; five siblings, Bayleigh, Keith, Cameron, Lilleigh and Molleigh; maternal grandmother Judy (Ryans) Wampler; paternal aunt, Nicole (Jeff) Thieret and uncle Neil Cairns; maternal uncle Stacy (Beth) Wampler and aunt Marcie Wampler; as well as 15 cousins. Calleigh was welcomed into heaven by paternal grandparents Donald and Sharon (Mangels) Cairns and maternal grandfather, Wayne Wampler.
The family asks for donations to be made to Calleigh’s benefit account at the Bank of Missouri, which will be converted to a foundation account in Calleigh’s name to help other children and families fighting cancer. Checks can also be made directly to Mary Cairns to be placed in the account by the family.
Visitation will be at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, Sunday, Aug. 22 from 2-6 p.m. and on Monday, August 23 from 6:30-8 a.m.

Visitation will continue at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Roger Steinbrueck officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
