St. Vincent and Perryville made the most out of their home meet. Perryville’s Tegan Bishop won the girls race and St. Vincent senior Gabriel Anders took the top spot in the boys race, as both won by a wide margin.
Those finishes were a few highlights on the day as the St. Vincent boys girls team finished second and the boys third at the St. Vincent Cross Country Meet on Sept. 1 at the Seminary Grounds in Perryville.
The Perryville boys followed that up by finishing fourth as a team. However, the main focus was on Bishop and Anders who ran away from the field early on the way to first place. Bishop finished with a time of 21 minutes, 27 seconds which was nearly two minutes faster than Valle Catholic’s Madelyn Griffard who finished in second place (23:13)
Anders was equally as dominant finishing in 18:08, considerably faster than Valle Catholic’s Peter Roth (18:33).
That was just the kind of day it was for the Indians as they had three boys finish in the top 10 and five girls finish inside the top 15.
Jackson Unterreiner finished third (19:05), Ethan Leible 10th (19:59) and Dane Kline 25th(21:15)
The St. Vincent were better as Anna Schwartz finished sixth (23:52), Abby Kirn ninth (25:02), Callyn Prost 11th (25:09), Gabby Gremaud 12th (25:10), Katelyn Sutterer 14th (25:15), and Lacci Gibbar 16th (26:07).
While Bishop was much of the talk around the course after her performance the Perryville boys also had some good finishes. Spencer Maloy had the top finish for the Pirates finishing 12th (20:18), while Lucas Smith finished 16th (20:28), while Ben Rehagen followed closely behind in 19th (20:46.
Porter and Preston Hoeckele finished inside the top 25, as Porter finished 20th (20:50) and Preston 23rd (21:09)
On the girls side for Perryville, Lillianne Franklin finished 25th (28:13) and Keturah Pyland finished 29th (28:48)
Saxony Lutheran also made the trip to Perryville and had a good showing as Myra Roth finished eighth in the girls race (24:57), while Addelyn Thomason (27:09) finished 19th and Eden Dehne (27:21) finished 29th.
