2022 municipal election: City guaranteed at least two contested races

Five have filed for three school board spots

Less than one week remains for those interested in filing as a candidate for the April 2022 municipal election. One detail that voters can be certain of: at least two races in the city of Perryville will be contested.

Three individuals have filed for mayor, so far. The list includes Larry Riney, who is now serving as Ward 1 alderman; incumbent mayor Ken Baer; and Kenny Tucker.

Also, two individuals have filed for the Ward 3 alderman spot. They include Prince Hudson as well as Clinton Rice.

Other city filings include: Direk Hunt, city marshal (also referred to as chief of police); Tom Guth, Ward 1 alderman; and Curt Riney, Ward 2 alderman.

The filing deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 4:30 p.m.

Other boards

Richard Dix, Glendon Sattler and Roger Sample have all filed for a three-year term on the Perry County School District No. 32 Board of Education. Casey Brewer and Melissa Hahn have filed for a one-year term. There are two three-year terms as well as one one-year position up for election on the seven-member board.

For the Perry County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Steve Rozier has filed for the five-year term.
